In the fall of 1941, the Canadian Army set out to the British Colony of Hong Kong to defend the island against the Empire of Japan. When the Japanese attacked the island a few weeks later on December 8th, more than 50% of the Canadians became causalities, one of the highest rates of any Canadian battle during the Second World War.
