New York City Essentials

Day 1: April 1, 2013

DAY ONE in New York City. Warm and sunny on April Fool's Day. The group from Cheraw arrived in the Big Apple at noon and met their Tour Director, Richard (Mr. NEW YORK CITY) Swarn at Rockefeller Center. The group immediately set out to eat like New Yorkers from food carts on the street. After a visit to St Patrick's Cathedral, the largest in the USA, we walked and window shopped up Fifth Avenue, past Trump Tower, Tiffany's and the Plaza Hotel to Central Park. Then it was more walking over to Dylan's Candy Bar where even the floor is made of candy. Sweet! Back on Fifth Avenue the students and chaperones stopped in FAO Schwarz, the world's greatest toy store, and explored and shopped on their own back to 30 Rock. The first night ended on a high note at the top of the Empire State Building, 86 stories above the city.
