Day 1: March 18, 2019
Welcome to Boston (sounds more like “Bawwston”), haha! We have had such a long, crazy and exciting day of traveling. We were up early and made our way to our destination where we met our Tour Director, Jen and our Bus Driver, Rob. Together, they took us into Charlestown, where the USS Constitution is located and up to the Bunker Hill Monument (most of us climbed all 294 stairs!!). We headed into Harvard next where we felt wicked smart and had lunch on campus and took a quick campus tour with Jen. Some of us even rubbed the foot on the John Harvard statue to bring us luck during our next round of finals. We saw where the incoming freshman are housed and learned some really fun stories of the university. Next, it was into the North End where we stood in front of Paul Reveres house, his statue and the Old North Church. We walked down Hanover Street and of course went into Mike’s Pastry’s for some Italian cannolis. Yum!! Jen then walked us along some more of the Freedom Trail where we saw the powerful Holocaust Memorial that touched a bunch of us. We walked to the Boston Common and the Boston Public Gardens, took a photo op in front of Cheers and Make Way for the Ducklings statue before heading to Copley Square. What felt like walking our own Boston Marathon, we finally made it to dinner at UNOs Pizza where we were treated to a pizza and Pasta dinner. We ended our night with stunning views of the sunset over Boston from the top of the Prudential Center, 50 floors up from the ground! Goodnight Boston! Tomorrow we are onto Lexington and Concord to learn about the Revolutionary War and Salem to conjure up some history on the witch trials and a ghost tour!!
