The third day of our trip was one filled with tons of winter fun! We had a later start than normal, leaving the hotel at 8:30am before getting breakfast. Breakfast was at Cora's, where students had an option between Bacon and Eggs and a fruit and granola bowl. Afterwards we made our way to Valcartier, a suburb of Quebec and more importantly, home to Quebec's best snow Tubing hills! Students had the opportunity to go snow tubing (in a tube on their own) or in a snow raft (tubes holding up to 7 people)! Hills were both natural, and man made, with the highest hill being a man made structure built 4 stories above the mountain! Students also had lunch at Valcartier, choosing between sit down restaurants and a traditional fast food style chalet. After tubing, we all reconvened and went to a sugar shack for dinner! This offered traditional quebecois entertainment, alongside maple ham, maple chicken, maple sausage and for dinner, maple taffy! The students also learned about the process to make maple syrup which involves boiling down 10 gallons of sap to make just a quarter of a gallon of syrup. After the sugar shack dinner, many of the kids visited a gift shop where they bought maple syrup to bring home and share with their families. We got back to the hotel at about 9pm, when the students had an hour of free time before beginning to pack up for their trip home tomorrow.
