New Orleans: City, Plantations & Bayou

May 13, 2014  -  May 17, 2014

We arrived New Orleans safe and sound. Our Tour Director, Miss Dianne was waiting for us. We are all sunshine, rainbows and ponies happy! Miss LaToya our coach driver is awesome and we think she is the cats pajamas.... Our 1st stop will be the French Quarter.....WOW, the Mississippi River is muddy. Did you know that at her widest point she is 1/2 mile wide and 250 feet deep? We learned the history of New Orleans and how the French Quarter was founded. Dinner was at The Court of Two Sisters, a New Orleans institution for great fun and great food. It was a hard choice between a crispy fried catfish with cayenne tarter sauce or the pan roasted chicken with tossed green beans. Both were yummy to our tummies :) After dinner we walked Royal Street with its fab shops filled with antiques and unusual gift ideas as we made our way to Cafe Du Monde. Beignets, beignets and more beignets! World famous Cafe Du Monde is where we all enjoyed this french donut with powdered sugar on top. Miss Dianne showed us how they are made and how to eat them for the maximum New Orleans experience. Our day ended by eating the beignets on the River theatre steps with a visit from Pumpkin our carriage pulling friend. Our first day in New Orleans has been a blast. It is time to head to the hotel for much needed rest as we have a super fun day tomorrow. We send love and thanks to all who have made this trip possible for us.
