Today we visited the Museum of Antropology and History of Mérida. This museum is located in beautiful and old house where the state governor used to love. We were amazed by the exposition about the ancient Maya, their pyramids and their beliefs. There where original pieces from all over the country such us statues, jewerly, masks, pieces and sculptures that used to be parts of ancient pyramids. We also learned about how human sacrificies where necessary for the ancient civilazations since they believed their gods wanted blood to send rain, piece and sun to the earth. Our second stop was Uxmal which is located southwest, towards Campeche, 80 km frrom Merida. Known as 'the three times built,' it is one of the most impressive and majestic Maya archeological sites in Yucatan. Its beauty is characterized by low horizontal palaces set around courtyards or quadrangles, which are decorated with highly detailed rich sculptures made from thousands of small and perfectly polished stones set in geometric mosaics of perfection unmatched in the entire Maya area. We were able to climb to.the top of the pyramids and the view was just amazing. We could really feel the energy of this place full of hisrtory and misteries. 3rd stop: Kabah. Located 23 km southeast of Uxmal. The city is known as the Puuc region’s second largest religious center. Its period of greatest height was about the year 800 AD. It seems that the te rain god was really he since he decided to send us a lot of water during our visit to this city. We had to run and get on the bus. Finally we got to the restaurant and we had lunch. At night we went to a restaurant called "La Parrilla" near the hotel. We had the best mexican tacos ever, we had the teaditional and famous "taco al pastor", vegetarian an Chichén tacos, beans, guacamole, chips and so much more. We also celebrated Emily's birthday with a little cake and singing happy birthday in Spanish. The waiters gave us big sombreros as a part of the celebration. Delicious and fun. That was not the end of the day. After dinner.some of the girls and Kevin went to a salsa academy to learn how to dance this latín música. They did it great!!
