Day 4: April 3, 2024
A lot of bus time today, from Jesolo to Verona, then across the Padana plain, and under/through the Appennines to Florence. Over the canals and inlets of the Venetian lagoon, and more views of snow-capped Dolomites as we made our way towards Verona. A TD-led walk through the streets of the city to see the (still in regular use) Roman Arena, Piazza Erbe, and Juliet's balcony (among other things!) Due to an accident on the highway, we took a diversion and ended up passing near the TD,s home city of Ferrara. A quick restroom and snack break at Occhiobello, then onward and southward to Bologna (Italy's self-proclaimed capital of food!) to Florence. Straight to dinner in a city-centre restaurant, then out to the hotel for a late check-in.
