Day 3: April 15, 2024
After our first French breakfast of croissants, pains au chocolat and sugared brioche, we jumped in the subway to the Louvre museum, the world's largest art collection. We only saw a tiny proportion but got a taste for a future visit.
We then headed up to Montmartre, taking in the Moulin Rouge, home of the French cancan, Amélie Poulain's café, many macaron stores, and lots of gift stores.
A break for lunch, then we climbed up the steps to visit the Sacre Coeur basilica, overlooking all of Paris. A quick wander round the village and the artists' square, then it was free time for shopping.
On meeting up we were caught in a huge rainstorm. The park was closed due to the danger of falling branches from the strong wind. We sheltered in a gift shop, but still got pretty wet.
We then headed south to visit Notre Dame before dinner opposite. A short wander across the 2 islands then we headed back to the hotel.
