Buongiorno!! Early wake up call this morning, kind of early breakfast too, time to leave the city of Rome, heading south, to the beautiful coast city of Sorrento. There's an amazing stop before arriving, which is the stop we make to visit the archaeological site of Pompei, one of the biggest cities built during the Roman empire, but unfortunately they didn't know the mountain they had next to the city was not a mountain, but a live volcano. This volcano got into eruption for three days in the year 79 AD, leaving the city under a 48ft wide layer of ashes which suffocated every inhabitant. Today, the ruins of Pompei are one of the most visited sites in Italy, and we could still walk by the streets that the city had one day and even got into one of the buildings which survived, the baths. We also had lunch before leaving towards Sorrento, and the idea was going downtown for a visit, but it was so hot and the beach looked so cool that we decided to pospone the visit to the next morning and enjoy our time in the Italian coast!!
