Day 1: June 19, 2017
Welcome to Philadelphia! After our drive from the Bronx, our day started with a tour of the University of Pennsylvania by our own Penn alumni, Mr. Silverstein! We saw the student dorms, quadrangle, and even got to eat in one of the student cafeterias. Next we were off to the National Constitution Center, where we saw a spoken word performance about the founding of the United States. Then, we interacted with the displays on the Constitution and its signers.
At the Independence Visitor's Center, we saw two movies about the formation of the US including one called "Choosing Sides." This movie gives the perspective of some teenagers at the time of the Revolution and how they dealt with loyalty. Finally it was time for dinner. We had the best Philadelphia dinner imaginable: Philly cheesesteaks! What a great first day in Philadelphia!

Hello!
My name is Rebecca and I'll be your Tour Director for your trip to Washington D.C. I'm so excited to show you these wonderful places!
I'll be there when you arrive in Washington and I'll be with you every day of the trip. I'll tell you about the different places we're visiting and lead us around when we're walking.
I've been watching the weather forecast and it looks like we'll have variable weather. Please be sure to bring clothing and gear for wet or cooler conditions. We'll be doing a lot of walking outdoors, even if it's cold or rainy.
I hope I can make the history lessons you've been learning in class become more real by showing you these places in person! I love how travel can change your knowledge into a real interest, and I hope I can show you that. We might have some fun along the way, too (just don't tell your teachers that part)! I can't wait to meet you all!
See you soon,
Rebecca
