Day 1: June 18, 2018
Hi, everybody. I'm Elisabeth, your Tour Director for your Explorica trip to San Francisco, Los Angeles, and places in between. This tour is jam-packed with amazing places to visit and things to do, so I'm looking forward to meeting you all and starting this great adventure! San Francisco and Monterey temperatures will be in the 50s at night and 60s during the day, so bring a jacket to stay warm. Los Angeles will be a bit warmer, up into the 70s. You'll need good walking shoes for all the places we're going; sandals or flip flops are not good for city walking. Looking forward to seeing you all at the airport!
Day 1 was a flurry of activity, from bringing in 4 different groups from 4 states on 4 separate flights. Finally, everyone arrived, and the first part of the day was spent exploring Fisherman's Wharf, from views of the Bay, to Ghirardelli Chocolate, from old ships to old penny arcade games at the Musée Mécanique. The day was beautifully clear and sunny, perfect for those shots of the water and the city. We then had the quintessential San Francisco experience, a cable car ride! A few adventurers even stood on the running board on the outside of the cable cars, really exciting! From there we explored some of the different city neighborhoods and streets, visiting the civic center with its magnificent city hall and viewing the city from the spectacular vantage point of Twin Peaks.
The day finished with dinner and shopping on Pier 39, plus a glimpse of sea lions!
