Day 2 Bogota--Quindio
Details: Travel to the Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia
An incomparable example of sustainable and cultural practices, the Coffee Cultural Landscape (CCL) of Colombia is a system of collectively cultivated coffee plantations in a mountainous landscape. Consisting of a series of six sites, which integrate eighteen urban settlement. The urban areas, mainly situated on the relatively flat tops of hills above sloping coffee fields, are characterized by the architecture of the Antioquian colonization with Spanish influence.

Details: Cocora Valley visit by jeep
The Valley is famed for its abundance of Quindío wax palm, the national tree of Colombia and tallest palm in the world. Visit on board Jeep Willys, the first USA military WW2 Jeeps (M38 or CJ-2A models) imported to Colombia for military defense but never actually used. Local farmers quickly took a fancy to them to replace the over-worked mules in the mountainous coffee growing region of Colombia. Roads, some even to this day, are only single track dirt roads.

Day 4 Quindio--Medellin

Details: Guatapé & Piedra del Peñol excursion
Visit the Rock of Guatape: The Peñol Boulder, a spectacular sight in the surrounding area of Medellin. The 200-meter-high monolith can be accessed by climbing 740 steps. Enjoy breath-taking views of green mountains and blue lakes. The village of Guatapé is famous for its church and its beautiful, colorful paintings that decorate the houses of the village.

Day 6 Medellin--Cartagena

While Cartagena itself has lost much of this influence over time, its less-cosmopolitan neighbor La Boquilla still largely retains its African-influenced styles of dress, food, and language. Today, La Boquilla’s culture is a rich mix of Afro-Caribbean elements including unique foods and exceptional music. Fishing is deeply rooted in this community, join local fishermen as you canoe through the mangroves and shallow waters of the Cienaga de Juan Polo lagoon to catch fish and seafood using traditional techniques.
Day 8 Cartagena

The Rosario Islands are located approximately an hour away by boat from South-West Cartagena. They consist of 27 islands with 20 hectares of coral reefs. Explore the impressive, beautiful landscapes of the Rosario Islands with their clear waters, gentle breezes, and marine life. Today, the surrounding area, including the Islas de Barú and the Islas de San Bernardo, are protected sites. During this day trip to Majagua Island, explore the breathtaking nature, relax on the beach and snorkel through the clear waters.

Santa Marta is one of the oldest cities in South America, founded by the Spanish conquistador Don Rodrigo de Bastidas in 1525. Strategically located between the sea and the Sierra Nevada and the highest coastal mountain range on earth, proud locals claim the city sits in the most beautiful bay of the American continent. Visit the former sugar cane hacienda, La Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, which has produced rum and sugar since 1608. Time stands still here allowing visitors to see many original buildings and artifacts such as to visit the deathbed of Bolivar. Admire authentic colonial buildings in the historic old town as well as the mother of all Colombian churches, the Cathedral of Santa Marta.
Day 10 Santa Marta

The Tayrona National Park is part of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Enjoy hiking through the jungle and mountains of Arrecifes and relax on the Caribbean beach of La Piscina.
