Explore the statues and learn about the monuments in Parliament Hill's open-air gallery by joining an orienteering rally.

Step inside the historic building where the Canadian Mint was first founded back in 1908. Discover the craftsmanship of coin production, learn about the new and improved technology associated with money making and see examples of hand-crafted commemorative coins, gold bullion coins, and medals.

During this guided tour of the National Gallery of Canada, one of the architectural jewels of Ottawa, you’ll experience works by Vincent Van Gogh, the Group of Seven, and Pablo Picasso among other priceless works of art. Afterwards students explore the gallery independently.

Details: Notre-Dame Basilica visit
When he saw his church completed, the Protestant architect of the Notre Dame Basilica was so inspired that he converted to Catholicism. The blue-and-gold interior certainly is inspiring—practically every inch of the immense church is covered in gold leaf. The imported stained-glass windows show the history of Montréal. This famous Basilica demonstrates how the church played a significant role in Canada’s history.

Details: Mont Royal and Beaver Lake visit
Overlooking the city of Montréal, Mont Royal boasts breathtaking views from the highest point in the city. Considered to be the oldest protected area in Québec, this large urban park was designed by celebrated landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted. Inspired by “the poetic charms of natural scenery,” the park would be his only creation in Canada. Students can experience the public sculptures, paintings and installations, explore Smith House, the Chalet and the Beaver Lake Pavilion, and see a cross originally erected in 1643 to give thanks to God for saving the colony from a flood.
Details: St-Viateur Bagel Shop
This famous bagel shop in Montréal was first opened in 1957 by Myer Lewkowicz, who brought his now famous bagel recipe over from Eastern Europe. Sit inside this famous 50 year old bakery and sink your teeth into one of the deliciously doughy bagels loaded with cream cheese.
