Last week our domestic sales team went on an adventure to Toronto’s newest tourist attraction, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. Since opening in October 2013, the underwater exhibit has been a hot spot for locals, visitors to the city and many, many student groups. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, it’s surrounded by several of our city’s most famous landmarks.

Ripley’s was kind enough to share the aquarium with our team, and now we’d like to share it with you!

Jellyfish and piranhas

Jellyfish and Piranha

Jellyfish (left) have been around for nearly 700 million years and range in size from one millimetre to two metres. Groups of jellyfish are referred to as “blooms” or “swams.” The South American Red Belly Piranha (right) is commonly misconceived as a dangerous carnivore. They’re actually scavengers, however, that mainly eat plants and insects.

We found Nemo!

Do these little guys look familiar? Clownfish (or anemonefish) were made famous by the Disney movie, “Finding Nemo.”

Well worth the visit

“I think the Aquarium is the perfect addition to any Toronto tour,” said Cory Mortenson, program consultant. “I would definitely recommend it to teachers. It’s a perfect combination of education and fun and kids of all ages will love it…In fact, it might be the highlight of the whole trip!”

Check out our Toronto 2-Day tour at www.explorica.ca/T2O or give your program consultant a call. We’d love to help you and your school create the perfect Toronto tour that includes a visit to Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada!
