Hotel Quality and Student Rooming

Even though you'll be far from home, your comfort won't be compromised. When you travel with Explorica, you'll stay in clean, safe, attractive hotels that provide modern amenities and easy access to major attractions via public transportation—or by foot!

Hotel quality and location

Standard hotels are tourist class accommodations typically located near public transportation and are within 45 minutes travel time to a major tourist attraction. All hotels offer clean, safe and comfortable rooms with private bathrooms and are 2-3 star hotels (according to European standards).

Standard central hotels offer similar accommodations to our standard quality, but are located closer to the city centre, and are within 20 minutes travel time to a major tourist attraction. Your group will enjoy a shorter commute to tourist attractions, but please bear in mind that due to their location and age, these hotels often provide less floor space and are situated in livelier neighbourhoods.

Upgrade hotels are centrally located and within 20 minutes travel time to a major tourist attraction. They typically offer more amenities, desk service and are generally 3-4 star hotels (according to European standards). All rooms have private bathrooms.

Student rooming

While on tour, 3-4 students of the same gender will be sharing a room. For teacher-led tours, the group leaders will assign these roommates. Hotel rooms are furnished with either single or double beds; single beds sleep just one person and double beds may be shared. The gender noted at enrolment will be used for room assignments. Special room accommodations may be made upon request.

Overnight train accommodation

During overnight train travel, students will sleep in couchettes with four to six berths (beds) and have access to a shared restroom in each car. Please note that couchettes on overnight trains are considered public transportation, and rooming is not guaranteed to be private or gender exclusive.
