Remembrance Day in Ottawa

OttawaThe Remembrance Day ceremony in Ottawa is the perfect time and place to show students the value of Remembrance Day and why it’s important to reflect on Canada’s involvement in war and peace efforts and pay tribute to those that served, and continue to serve our country.

Students have the opportunity to stand with members of the Canadian Forces and hundreds of citizens for a two-minute silence followed by the sad notes of the Last Post and the booming sounds of the 21-gun salute at the National War Memorial during the annual Remembrance Day ceremony.

Ottawa tombstoneThis ceremony, along with visits to the war history exhibits at the Canadian War Museum and Parliament Hill, gives students a different way to reflect on Canada’s political and military history.
